 The Importance of Minerals

Approximately 99% of the human body is comprised of minerals, yet minerals are generally overlooked when nutrition is considered. Gary Price Todd, M.D., says "the human body requires at least 60 minerals in order to maintain a disease and ailment free state". If this is true, it’s easy to understand why sickness is so prevalent throughout the world. Foods that are available today contain, on average, no more than 16 to 20 minerals. This small number of minerals in plants is due to a mineral deficiency of the soils around the world.

When a plant grows, it draws available minerals from the soil. If the soil lacks minerals, the plant lacks minerals. This mineral deficiency was caused by years of wind and rain erosion and centuries of unwise farming practices (link to soil depletion charts and info). Dr. Todd also said vitamins are basically useless in the absence of minerals. If the proceeding is true, it makes sense that people need to find a mineral source that provides 60 or more minerals.

Most of us have been hearing about vitamins since we were children. And even today we hear authoritative sources say be sure to take your vitamins, but seldom do you hear anyone say, “be sure to take your minerals”. Vitamins are sometimes expected to do more than they are capable of doing. Our bodies can live longer without vitamins than they can with a deficit of minerals.
Did you know all the vitamins in the world would do us little good without minerals? Minerals are required for the body to utilize vitamins. In fact minerals are the essential building blocks of blood, bone, and tissue. Without minerals your body could not repair damaged cells and tissue. The lack of just one trace mineral could create a multitude of health problems.

Some of the best mineral supplements today contain no more than 10 to 15 minerals derived from the earth. These are known as hydrophobic (inorgranic) minerals because they are not water-soluble. Minerals from plants have been predigested by the plants root and are known as water-soluble, hydrophilic (organic) minerals. Hydrophilic minerals are thought to be 99% absorbable and most beneficial to the human body. They are the same as those obtained from fruits and vegetables. However, as stated above, most foods contain less than 20 minerals, so eating fresh fruits and vegetables are essential to health, but they need supplementation in order to obtain the 60 plus minerals your body requires. Liquid Life is the product that will give you a full spectrum of 75 plant source minerals.

Are Pharmaceuticals Stealing Your Nutrition? (by board certified pharmacist Suzy Cohen)

Don't let dangerous pharmaceuticals steal your health away! Licensed pharmacist Suzy Cohen reveals how to protect yourself in her new book: Drug Muggers.

If you or someone you know is taking statin drugs, blood pressure drugs, diabetes drugs, antidepressants, anti-inflammatory drugs or over-the-counter painkillers, you may be suffering from dangerous (yet hidden) nutritional deficiencies caused by the medications themselves!

Now, board-certified pharmacist Suzy Cohen blows the lid on drug-induced nutritional deficiencies in her blockbuster book, Drug Muggers.

Drug Muggers reveals exactly which nutrients are depleted by hundreds of different medications, giving you the knowledge you need to protect yourself from chronic illness caused by nutrient depletion. She also teaches you how to correct those deficiencies and even make your medications safer if you decide to keep taking them.

Did you know, for example, that statin drugs deplete CoQ10, a nutrient that's crucial for proper heart function, muscle function and overall energy? Doctors don't tell patients what they truly need to know about medications, but Suzy Cohen does!

That's why Drug Muggers is a must-read book for anyone taking medications.

"Drug Muggers should be required reading by anyone taking prescription medications." - the Health Ranger
